Calgary is a beautiful city full of diverse locations ranging from unique urban settings to gorgeous natural environments. This is what we love most about Calgary is you can so easily get two different looks to an engagement session or wedding day without having to travel too far between spots. Here is a handful of our favourite photo locations that Calgary has to offer.
1.) Fish Creek Park
This park photographs well no matter what time of day and has many different looks to it. From open fields with sweeping skies, to quiet treed areas, we love fish creek! For weddings, it is wonderful as it is in the same area as the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant and is a quick walk which makes it easy to sneak out of the reception for some beautiful sunset images! We also love that it is pet-friendly!
Charbar is located inside the Simmons Building in the East Village. It is so versatile and can be used for both engagement photos and can accommodate weddings & receptions. Its brick interior and low lighting make it a great spot to have a glass of wine while having a more photojournalistic approach to your session. We also love that we can incorporate more dramatic and edgy imagery here as well giving it two different looks. It is also very close to St. Patricks Island which has an incredible bridge and park settings with downtown views!
3.) Confederation Park
This park is situated near Sait and downtown. One of the many reasons we love it is that no matter when you go you can always find a section that you can have to yourselves. It has beautiful trees and manicured lawns, no picnic tables and has a little creek running though that is fun to explore! It is pet-friendly and is a great area to play catch with your fur baby!
4.) Langevin Bridge
This spot is incredible as the sunsets. Throughout the year it has many different colours and is great to photograph no matter what time of the year! We love how it looks back onto downtown.
5.) Crescent Heights
This stunning location looks out over the Calgary Skyline. No matter what the weather it always photographs well and provides a different look and feel depending the weather. We love how it is large enough to capture bridal party formals and how we can use a number of different focal lengths to create a unique perspective. We’ve also photographed elopements in this location, it’s an excellent spot to say “I DO”
6.) Stephan Ave.
We love the hustle and bustle of Stephen Ave! From the heritage buildings to creative sculptures it has so much going for it! Whether up close or at a distance, classic or modern, this location has something for everyone!
Here are a few images from each location!
