Happy Thursday!! Today we are chatting about lighting and how it can add that “wow factor” to your wedding ceremony or reception. Lighting can transform any room into a masterpiece and can be customized to your wedding colours and theme. It can be soft and romantic or dramatic and bold. From soft pinks to deep blues, it is amazing how lighting can set the mood for an evening! We have had the privilege to work with many wonderful companies throughout our career and see how they along with a wedding planner carry out the design for the chosen space. Below are some examples of how our clients made their vision come to life by using creative lighting!
.) Winter wonderland. Aiv & Jon had a destination wedding in Lake Louise and with having guests come in from all over the world they wanted them to feel like they were walking into a winter wonderland. The movie Frozen also came to mind when designing the space. Winter in the mountains is enchanting and they wanted to add to the ambiance of that. For their ceremony they used subtle lighting with draping and candles to give the room a soft glow. The fabulous teams of Stardust Event Group and Sheryl Boury from Lynn Fletcher Weddings transformed the space while we took advantage of the outdoors for photos. The results were mind blowing! The projected snowflakes on the fireplace, along with the polka dots created a beautiful backdrop for the deep blues and purples that highlighted the room. We also loved the fact that for the shoe game and first dances we were able to keep that beautiful backdrop while Stardust provided us with spotlighting for the couple!
.) Soft purple and gold. Scott & Isabel held their reception at the amazing Oasis Centre in Edmonton. They incorporated soft purples and golds while still using house lighting. They were able to highlight key elements of their decor such as individual tables, the head table and making the cake table the focal point of the room.
.) Winter in the castle. Greg & Michelle wanted to treat their guests to what winter in Banff was truly about. With the amazing talent of their wedding planner Julianne from a Modern Proposal, they were able to use the in house lighting provided and enhance it was candle light. What a magical experience!
.) An elegant affair. Nicola and Trevor chose dramatic uplighting with soft tones for their decor for their beautiful reception at the Fairmont Palliser in downtown Calgary. As pink was a huge part of the wedding day it was great to see that carried over into the reception. Elegance with a twist and we loved it! 5.) Deep purples & pinks. The Carriage House in Calgary is always amazing when using additional lighting to set the tone for your wedding reception. Once again Lynn Fletcher of Lynn Fletcher Weddings transformed the space. The colours and layout of the space was incredible. The ice bar was definitely a focal point of the room and the lighting made it pop! We also loved how Chelsey & Jarrod projected their initials onto the draping to add a personalized touch to their reception!
.) Modern Purple. Erin & Jason chose to have tones of deep purples for their December reception at Hotel Arts in Calgary. It was elegant, flirty and fun! It also paired well with the candles on the tables and the little bit of bling throughout the room!!
